Raja Yoga is the branch of yoga that focuses on inner techniques for enhancing, moving and liberating energy within you. Free-flowing, abundant energy is essential for robust physical health, emotional stability and mental clarity. This class is designed to introduce you to a range of inner and outer techniques that are very powerful and transformative – and not found in regular yoga classes.
This class comprises yoga postures, breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation and energy practices (kriyas) that come from the teachings of Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Raja Yoga is for those who want to experience the more esoteric aspects of yoga.
The transformative nature of these techniques releases blocked and stagnant energy in your subtle body system. This can sometimes be a bit discomforting and distracting. For this reason it is important to have a knowledgeable and experienced guide who can smooth the way and keep you on track.
Our senior instructor – Swami Shantimurti Saraswati – teaches this class. He has extensive experience with these techniques and has taught them over the last 25 years. There are few people around with his level of experience and expertise.
