Prana New Year Festival

P

Ashram Yoga is again very happy to provide yoga as part of the Prana New Year Festival. Our yoga retreat is right next door to Prana – just 5 minutes walk from the main Prana’s main stage.

We are providing the perfect blend of yoga and celebration with daily yoga classes, pranayama (breath work) and yoga nidra (guided relaxation), kirtan (chanting), talks with Swami Shantimurti Saraswati and more.

Join us at the YOGA MARQUEE on Ashram Yoga’s property and reconnect with your mind, body and breath. Or pop into our STALL at Prana for a cold mango lassi, hot chai or a chat about yoga (our favourite topic).

Talks on Yoga

Awakening Prana (Ashram Yoga Marquee)

31 December, 1.00pm – 1.45pm

The practice of pranayama forms the core of spiritual awakening. How can you use pranayama? What is the difference between prana and breath and how does this activate dormant areas of our brain and mind.

 .

The Mystery of Tantra (TUI Marquee)

2 January, 6.00pm – 6.45pm

The word Tantra is made up of two words: tanoti and trayati. Tanoti means ‘to expand’, while trayati means ‘to liberate’. Tantra is a creative mystery which impels us to expand our experience and awareness. It is the root of many other spiritual systems and encompasses all aspects of human life. Join Swami Shantimurti for a lively discussion on Tantra and how to enjoy and live life to the fullest.

Swami Shantimurti Saraswati is the senior teacher of Ashram Yoga. He has lived the life of a traditional yogi and has taught yoga for the past 35+ years. He was initiated into sannyasa  in the 1970’s by his guru Paramahansa Satyananda. Over the years he has met and learnt from many accomplished yogis and yoginis and he brings this knowledge into his teaching.

Shantimurti is a dynamic and entertaining speaker with much wisdom and humour to share. He has lectured and taught locally and internationally, and currently resides at Ashram Yoga’s Ohui Retreat in the Coromandel.

Ashram Yoga Marquee Programme

Marq 400

The Yoga Marquee is located at Ohui Retreat on the property next door to the Prana Festival. Follow the signs – it’s only a five minute walk – and if you are not sure where it is then ask for directions at our stall on the festival grounds.

Our Yoga Classes comprise a mixture of asana (postures -both flowing & held), with pranayama (breath work) and relaxation or meditation to finish, providing an integrative experience of yoga.

This year, we will bring a few themes into our afternoon classes. Bring a friend to the Partner Yoga to strengthen your friendship and have fun; Immerse yourself into the practices that help activate the chakras; Chill out and relax with some Restorative Yoga before you head back home…
