Prana New Year Festival

Ashram Yoga is again very happy to provide yoga as part of the Prana New Year Festival. Our yoga retreat is right next door to Prana – just 5 minutes walk from the main Prana’s main stage.

We are providing the perfect blend of yoga and celebration with daily yoga classes, yoga nidra (guided relaxation), kirtan (chanting), talks with Swami Shantimurti Saraswati and more.

Join us at the YOGA MARQUEE on Ashram Yoga’s property and reconnect with your mind, body and breath. Or pop into our STALL at Prana for a cold mango lassi, hot chai or a chat about yoga (our favourite topic).

Talks on Yoga

Swami Shantimurti Saraswati is the senior teacher of Ashram Yoga. He has lived the life of a traditional yogi and has taught yoga for the past 37 years. He was initiated into sannyasa  in the 1970’s by his guru Paramahansa Satyananda. Over the years he has met and learnt from many accomplished yogis and yoginis and he brings this knowledge into his teaching.

Shantimurti is a dynamic and entertaining speaker with much wisdom and humor to share. He has lectured and taught locally and internationally, and currently resides at Ashram Yoga’s Ohui Retreat in the Coromandel.

Join him in two lively discussions at the Prana Festival. Both sessions include practical yoga techniques for you to experience and take away as tools in daily life:

Why your body’s energetic system and the chakras (energy centres in the body) are such an integral part of your health. Why breath is the key to unlocking your energy.
