Roselle started taking drugs for asthma at age two and continuing for most of her adult life. “I remember my lungs used to feel like an over stretched rubber band, but now that has gone and I have really good lung capacity, and quite good strength too. Jennie Fenwick – Recovery from Spinal Surgery

Jennie had a prolapsed disc in her spine removed. “Now even at 52 I have more flexibility in my spine than some much younger people. In terms of my daily life my back is virtually pain free and fabulous. I was inspired!! I thought about going back to my previous career of public relations or producing radio programmes but yoga so profoundly changed my life that I decided to do Ashram Yoga’s teacher training course and share this amazing gift with others. Devananda’s Travel Tales

At the same time, daily over the course of 54 days we collectively chanted a chosen mantra (our choice was to remove obstacles in whatever capacity was relevant in our personal lives). Visiting India

Shantimurti returned from his month-long trip to India saying it was very hot, but also a lot of fun. In contrast to many people’s expectations, Shantimurti didn’t go to India for a spiritual experience. He went there simply to hang out and see what happened. He and his travelling companions – Charles and Yogashakti – agreed not to seek out gurus and ashrams and temples, but rather to establish themselves somewhere and get into the local scene. Being a teenager, I got into things that were self destructive and less than nourishing. I developed an eating disorder as a coping mechanism and had regular panic attacks. Yoga helped to reduce my anxiety and allowed me to feel more comfortable with being in my physical body. I began to learn how to stretch myself physically whilst being more respectful of my limitations, a philosophy that I believe is at the foundation of my teaching today. Read more
