|Yoga at the Beach
Ashram Yoga’s Ohui Retreat is located on a beautiful 20-acre beachfront property at the northern end of Opoutere Beach on the Coromandel Peninsula.
Just two hours from Auckland (see map), find yourself transported to the expansiveness of white beaches, endless ocean and stunning sunrises. Yoga is on your doorstep every morning plus much more to help ease the mind and revitalise. We welcome all, whether you are new to yoga or you have been practising for many years.
Additionally, we accept wwoofers who are willing to experience a yogic lifestyle.
The retreat centre comprises two main buildings – the house and a second building which includes a sadhana room and additional accommodation. We also have plenty of space for camping.
The Ohui Retreat is a family business and home to four generations. Laszlo, the youngest member of the family, always steals the show (right). His mother – Atma (right) – manages the retreat and is one of the main instructors for the Intensive programme.
Laszlo’s father (Prasad) maintains the property. His grandfather (Shantimurti) is Ashram Yoga’s senior instructor. And his great-grandfather (Karmamurti) is a kind-hearted retired yoga teacher.
Opoutere Beach is a pristine example of New Zealand’s untouched natural coastline. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the North Island, for most of the year you can expect to share this beach only with the birds.
